About Me

My photo
Well what can I say about me???? I left school with the qualifications for hairdressing (this was my dream job). I finally qualified however had to give it up shortly after for medical reasons. I then became a shop assistant and just plodded along. After I got married and had our 2 children I begun to help in their school. When it became that I was there more than at home, I asked if there were any vacancies. I was lucky I begun supporting a boy 1:1. As I became more engrossed in school life I wanted to learn more and more and more. I now have my own personal SEN experiences and also SEN qualifications that I use on a daily basis. My role is to support pupils with a wide range of literacy difficulties, numeracy difficulties, speech and language difficulties, listening/concentrating, Behaviour and SEBD. I love my job, however am beginning to become stressed out by the number of children that need support. xx

Yipeeeeeee

I can't believe that I have actually handed it my ICT aggignment , this module really felt like it was never going to end.  We started it in November and handed it in last week (March) thats 4 months to complete 1 assignmnet, we usually have 4 modules to complete in a year so that means we have 4 to complete before the end of July. We are all going to be pulling our hair out, thats without the usually household,  work,  and family stuff to do.
Its lovely here at the moment so I think I'm going to go outside and read some books to start researching for our Numeracy module.
Butterfly watchingOk bye for now I well be honest and say I probably won't be blogging as aften as I have but I will update it when new things have happened.

So tired

I've had a really strange week, haven't been feeling too great,  feeling so tired, stressed and over-worked.
I have fallen asleep early in the evenings with my laptop on my lap (ready to complete my assignment), and NO work done.
I have so much to do but there doesn't seem enough hours
in a day to finish them

I have to go out soon, so will have to call back later.

Assignment

Well first of all I hope everyone is having an amazing half term and have finished your ICT assignments.  Have I ?  have I hell, well I suppose that is a little fib, I have done quite a bit of Internet research (however not all assignment related)  I have scanned/read the library's E-books  and E-journals.  I initially set myself a target of getting all my handwritten notes, references and lesson plan written up.  Did I get it done? did I hell.
I forgot my husband was nights this week so keeping 1 teenager,  an 11yr old hormonal daughter and a 4month old staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy quiet. I think the pup has been in training for the next Olympics shes been spinning, high jumping and hurdling over all my furniture.  All of a sudden shes found her bark as well .
So keeping them quiet as well as the usual household cleaning stuff and baking (its a half term must have) pasties, chocolate cakes and scones, they were very yummy I must admit, only problem was as soon as they were coming out of the oven someone was eating them (Rhea the pasties Kyle the chocolate cakes the dog ate all the crumbs).

Anyway lets get back on task!!!!!

I have today started to write some notes, and references and have typed up my lesson plan so it looks alot better that my scrawly writing!
Right lets go and make another effort.
have a great weekend and see you all soon. XX

Making Memories

My husbands Nana passed away on New Years Eve, she was 95 years old.
She deterioated quickly over the Christmas period and passed away peacefully.
I decided to get some of our favoutite photos together and combine them into a memory DVD .  I initially used Movie Maker as I wanted to burn the finished movie onto DVD, so my Mother in law is able to play it on het DVD player.  I also made one using Photostory to see how the programmes were similar.  They both do roughly the same job allowing you to use different effects, and transition and also allows you to add music.  Movie Maker was great because I was able to burn the DVD, however for some reason I have been unable to upload onto here.  On the other hand, with Photostory your unable to burn to disk but it did allow me to upload.
I really enjoyed using both programmes and will use them again in the future.

Interactive games

Hi all ,
I had  an early night last nght after a busy evening getting my games sorted, I was unable to do the recordings as I had 2 children and a puppy around the place.  Woke up early this morning to finish it, I felt so stupid sitting here recording words to myself.  I thought I had managed to save to the memory stick but forgot to save the word banks.  I was lucky to be able to come home to get my laptop, so i was able to complete the lessons this morning.
It went really well thankfully, I thought I would include a photostory for you to have a small insight into what the activity was.

Have you guessed what the activity was yet!!!!
ae aeiou u I sometimes cry, ae aeiou u I sometimes cry!!!!

I have managed to get Textease from school and uploaded it onto my computer. I have also managed to get my game re-made I just need to record some bits and pieces and then that is finished.
As for the writing I haven't started that yet I have started 2 books/documents the first one is- information and communication technology (WAG document) this was beneficial to read about the different stages of progression.  The other one is by pearson Publishing - ICT in the Primary school, I've only just started this one will let you know what its like in a couple of days.

Snow day

I thought I would show you all just a little quick photostory that I did about our Snow day and our new puppy Teegan.  I can't believe how small she looked then.  She is definitely not that small anymore!!!
(ps not fussed on the music )

Bloody Textease

I am about to scream the house down!!!!!!!
I started my ICT assignment this morning, initially I started  writing some stuff  sorry I  mean words for the assignment.  After a couple of hrs I decided to make a few changes to my interactive resource using Textease.  Your probably wondering why I'm about to scream well the reason being is I HATE BLOODY TEXTEASE!!!!!!
This program has crashed on me 5 times today, I have saved my work onto the laptop AND a memory stick (just in case) does the new program open does it hell!! I am so annoyed.  I have tried to uninstall and then re-install and the problem is still exists. I am so annoyed with this program, we are recommended to use it, download it, install it and upgrade using the code given, and then this happens.
I am now left with without the programme or my resource, will have to ask our ICT co-ordinator if we still have it in school otherwise I am going to have to start all over again with a different programme.  ARGHHHHHH

Smart Board

On Wednesday the people that stayed upstairs with Mandy used the smart board, omg I didnt realise you could do so much stuff on it. I had a great time and learnt loads.  I have been practising these skills in school (when no-one is around) and at home.
My graphics tablet came today, although my drawing skills really need to improve before I upload anything I've drawn freehand, it takes time to get used to using,  So thats my homework for next week, oh yeah we have an ICT assignment to write as well.  Its a shame this wasnt a complete practical assignment I hate all this academic writing.  I wonder how many more assignments we have to complete, I'm sure Lisa will post exactly how many. lol
Going to go now and practice my drawing. haha

Digital Scrapbooking Kit

On my last ICT session I mentioned that I have been using a digital scrapbooking kit, i saw this advertised when I was home after my foot operation, so I thought what the hell it will stop me from getting bored, and I wan at least do something with all photos I have uploaded onto my laptop.  I have always been interested in arts and crafts (mainly cardmaking).  I have never tried scrapbooking before but though at least I wouldnt make too much mess.  I ordered it and whilst waiting for it to come I scanned even more photos.  Just my luck my laptop died before I received the software. I have really enjoyed using this software and thought I'd upload a couple of my pages for you to see.

Well another week in school and I havent used ICT in the learning roon with pupils again.  I have been told that I need to download or install games onto the computer in the ICT suite.  Then when I withdraw pupils I need to go into the suite and support the children in their learning, by playing rhe downloaded games.

2animate

I have managed to get 2 animate from school (yipee we have some software), so I installed it onto my laptop and have been having a try at improving my drawing skills.  Who would have thought I have an O level in art (yes thats how old I am I have O levels and not GCSE's)  however in my defence its not that easy drawing with a touchpad, that wht I have ordered a graphics tablet!  what was I thinking of, is it going to improve my drawing on 2animate I very much doubt it.
I was thinking of the last snow day when I animated this.........

I had great fun doing this, it was so relaxing.
Hope you all have a great weekend, take care.

Animation

Well back for our 1st uni session since before Christmas.  I was apprehensive about going back as I've only just returned back to work, have I used ICT since I have been back and the answer is NOTHING.  I have been catching up on my paperwork and inputting info into the computer.
I really enjoyed using the 2animate programme paint/animation programme, have we got it to use in school. No, is it a free download answer No!!!!!!
I have found that there are loads of programmes being recommended but we don't have them.
Still trying to think of something to do for this assignment, its difficult cause I've only been back 1 week and my timetable and children that I support are changing also.
Oh well at least I have done a bit of my blog hopefully next time it will be interesting!!!!!

Getting back to normal!!

I have finally had my laptop back from being repaired, yippee life without it has been bloody awful.  As my foot was still healing I was unable to go out to do my Christmas shopping so I was forced to use my son's laptop and go online shopping for nearly everything. I had to make sure that I deleted the history each time I went on it, so he didn't find out what sites I went on to.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas, the snow was lovely initially but after a day or so it became a nuisance.  It was so difficult to get around in the snow and ice whilst using crutches.  I am now thankfully off them and am able to get around normally, however it is with caution.  I can't walk very far yet but it will come with time.  The funny thing about it is I have to wear shoes that are 2 sizes bigger than normal because of the swelling.

I recently ordered a digital scrapbook programme, which came when I didn't have a laptop so have been trying it out over the last couple of days.  Its basically a programme where you produce scrapbook pages digitally and upload your photos to it.  I have been really pleased with the results.

I would like to wish everyone a Fantastic 2011.
